the beginning ...

This site is the fledgling beginning of the need to have a collective area for my artwork. It's under construction all the time, so check back!

My site and all the work on it is definitely dedicated to my best mate and husband Ryan. If it wasn't for him, none of the artwork I've done or the success it has seen would ever exist. He's the one that said, "C'mon, just try it - what's the worst that can happen?" Then he bought the supplies and shoved them under my nose. And so I tried. And loved it. I have spent every spare moment since that day trying, learning, enjoying this uncommon art medium. Most evenings I only put down my knife when Ryan says, "You said you'd go to bed 3 hours ago", and when my face and hands look like a coal miner's from the ink dust, and my arms are aching. And when other people actually like my work, all the better. Even so, it's worth it just for the personal enjoyment it brings. If I never sold or gave away another piece I would keep doing it for fun.

and now...

We have spent the last few years of our lives in New Zealand, exploring, traveling and soaking in all the sun we can on weekends, in between lots of hard work and study. It is a big world out there, and we'd hate to be born, live and die all in the same place without getting to experience life to the fullest. It's been fun getting to know the New Zealand culture, people, and nature through my art. We made the Inukshuk on some riverbed in the South Island, just to remind the world that we Canadians were here.

My art has seen some success in New Zealand as well, with print sales and a few pieces that have been accepted and sold at various shows in the North Island. In April '09 I won the Feilding and District Art Society $500 Premier Award.

I don't have all my work up on here yet, but will try to continue updating as I have time. If you have any comments, suggestions or queries, please contact me at [email protected].
